AMENDED SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Mersea Clubs Event 

These amendments should be read in conjunction with the General Sailing Instructions.

The general sailing instructions for the BCOSS series are amended as follows for the Mersea Clubs Event to be sailed on Saturday 8th August

AMENDED SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

The Mersea Clubs Event

These amendments should be read in conjunction with the general Sailing Instructions for the BCOSS series.

These amendments are specific to the BCOSS Mersea Clubs Event (leg 3).  The event is jointly hosted by West Mersea Yacht Club and Dabchicks Sailing Club and will be raced as ‘the Mersea Clubs Event.’  They should be read in conjunction with the BCOSS general Sailing Instructions and Safety Declaration, which entrants are requested to download from the BCOSS website.

 

For the Mersea Clubs Event to be sailed on Saturday 8th August 2015, the Sailing Instructions for the BCOSS series are amended as follows:

 

6. RADIO COMMUNICATION

6.2 Information regarding the event will be broadcast on VHF Channel 77, and the Committee Boat will have the call sign ‘Molliette.’

 

7. COURSES

7.1 Courses will be set within a boundary drawn between the following navigational marks:

Colne No 8

North Eagle

Wallet Spitway

Thirslet

7.2.  The course will comprise of legs of varying length and will pass through the starting line at some stage so that the course may be shortened, should the OOD decide that the prevailing conditions require this.

 

9 THE START

9.3 The start line will be between the mainmast of the Committee Boat moored to the Committee Boat mooring buoy (approximately 200m to the south west of the Nass Beacon) and the Outer Limit mark broadcast by the Committee Boat and displayed on a board on the Committee Boat.

9.3.1 If the board displays ‘S’ then Outer Limit mark ‘S’ – (yellow buoy with black flag) will be the OLM.

9.3.2 If the board displays ‘E’ then Outer Limit Mark ‘E’ – (yellow buoy with a red flag) will be the OLM.

9.3.3 If the board displays ‘W’ then Outer Limit mark ‘W’ –(yellow buoy with a green flag) will be the OLM.

9.5 There will be one start at 1100 for all three classes (IRC, Local Handicap and White Sail).

 

15 THE FINISH

15.1.1 When 12.2 is not actioned, the finish line will be between the main mast of the Committee boat moored to the Committee Boat mooring buoy and Outer Limit Mark ‘S’ (yellow buoy with black flag).

 

17 PROTESTS & REQUESTS FOR REDRESS

A boat that wishes to lodge a protest shall verbally inform the Principal Race Officer as soon as possible after finishing or retiring, and no later than 6pm on the evening of the event.

 

19 PRIZES

19.3 Prizes for the BCOSS Mersea Clubs Event will be awarded to the leading boats in each of the three designated classes, depending upon the number of boats in each class. 

19.5 The BCOSS Mersea Event prizes will be presented on the evening of 8th August at the summer party to be held at West Mersea Yacht Club.
